The holiday season starts to get very busy in my household. This year has been extremely difficult for me so I’ve been finding joy in preparing my family for Christmas. I’ve been using my Cricut Air Explore 2 and Cricut EasyPress2 to design decor for our home and customizing some gifts.

Our daughter has been keeping us busy with different practices, recitals and things. So when I saw this images on Cricut Design Space, I thought it spoke perfect to my mood. As busy as it gets you can find me with my hot coffee that’s been reheated more than I’d like to admit and Christmas cheer in my heart. If you are a busy bee this holiday season lets talk about how to make this DIY Coffee and Christmas Cheer T-Shirt using your Cricut Explore Air 2 and EasyPress 2.

Supplies Needed For DIY Coffee and Christmas Cheer T-Shirt

Cricut cutting machine

Cricut EasyPress 2

Glitter Iron-on

Infusible ink

Weeding tool

Cricut blank shirt

Christmas coffee (design space)

So before we get started on how I created the shirt you have to understand that I did make an error. The entire design was supposed to be done with infusible ink however, I made a mistake so I decided to do an overlay with the glitter iron-on and I think that it came out great. Since it was shirt that I was keeping for myself I didn’t mind the little imperfection.

**You can overlay glitter and infusible ink but the glitter vinyl goes first then the infusible ink and that’s how I’d do it next time.

How I Created A Coffee and Christmas Cheer T-Shirt

The first thing that I did was went to design space and searched around for Christmas ideas that I wanted to use. Cricut is always adding new designs and you can add your own project as well. I found the coffee and Christmas cheer saying that I liked. It was originally in black but I change the font to red.

I chose a red Infusible Ink ;and cut the image out. Placing the infusible ink sheet on the mat and then turning on the “mirror” setting is crucial. If you don’t do this, your project will look backwards once you transfer it. On your Cricut Explore machine ;move the Smart Set Dial on your machine to custom materials, then proceed to find and select Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet in Cricut Design Space.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know how much I love my Cricut Explore.

You will need a weeding tool to remove all the negative space from around the design.

Next, make sure you heat your Cricut EasyPress 2 to the correct to temperature setting based on the heating guide provided by Cricut. This is where my mistake was made. I pressed my image multiple times and I scorched it. DO NOT do this! I repeat, DO NOT do this. See where the image looks a little faded. It was wearable, but definitely NOT how infusible ink is supposed to look.

How I Corrected My Oops

I decided that the best way to make this work without losing my infusible ink and tee was to layer it with my beautiful glitter vinyl. I ran the same the image through the cutter again with the glitter vinyl face down and weeded it the same way.

I placed the shirt on the EasyPress mat and layered the glitter vinyl directly over the previous design. I pressed my vinyl for the time according the Cricut heat guide. I let it cool slightly and there you have it. It came out great!
