My son loves his green vegetables, but like any toddler he can be a picky eater whenever he wants to be. Getting your kids to eat healthy can be challenging. Fortunately for us our kids are pretty healthy eaters. I believe that’s because we introduced fresh fruits and vegetables to their diets when they first start eating solids.
One thing we found is that he loves to have a smoothie. Adding fruits such as bananas, apples, or pears to the base of any smoothie will give it a nice sweet taste and hide the taste of the greens.
Why Green Smoothies?
Smoothies can be a great way to get kids to eat their veggies. Blending the recommended daily serving of fruits and vegetables is a perfect way to ensure that your children are receiving the vitamins and nutrients needed for proper growth. Smoothies are delicious and naturally sweet so usually kids don’t notice the hidden greens. I don’t add additional sweeteners to my smoothies, however if you want a little more sweetness natural sweeteners such as honey, stevia and agave will do the trick.
This recipe is a perfect starter smoothie for anyone. It is a “sweetheart” and your kids won’t notice the spinach.
