This has been a busy week for me. I’ve managed to make it through an entire week of work with no doctor appointments or weird schedule conflicts, but man, I am tired.
Tonight this mama is taking a break and sitting back with a Netflix movie and a bottle of wine. Since having my son I haven’t exactly figured out the best way for me to relax. Back in the old days (pre-baby & marriage) I remember relaxing after I put my daughter to bed with a movie and a glass of red wine. I would keep the volume down very low on the TV and light several candles.
The scent of the candles, the twinkle from the flame, and the bittersweet taste of my lady glass was enough to rock me to sleep after a long week. These days I’m lucky if I get to go to the bathroom alone and sleep silently for more than two hours straight without being kicked in the rib cage.
Tonight will be different. I promised myself a little bit of much-needed mommy relaxation. No working, no studying, and hopefully lots of silence–okay a little silence. I’m going to cook myself a nice meal and I’ve even ordered a couple of bottles of wine from GraysOnline that I can’t wait to drink. I haven’t had a relaxing night in months and I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time! Trust me! I’m not sure what I’m going to cook yet and I might even end up ordering a take-out. It depends if I can be bothered to cook if I’m honest!
These kids keep me so busy, but it is essential that as moms we take time for ourselves. Being a mom can be so tiring that we forgot about our own well-being sometimes.
What do you do to relax?
Have a great weekend
