My daughter and I have been waiting for this movie for awhile now. She read the book series when she was younger, so when she found out it was going to be a movie she was thrilled. We decided to make it a “Scary Stories To Tell In Dark” movie family night minus the little guy. This was a perfect way to wrap up our October with some pizza and hot chocolate. It has gotten quite chilly here in Chicago so spooky movie and warm blankets perfects.

What is Scary Stories to Tell In Dark About?

“It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley, where for generations the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that hasSelect an area to comment on transcended time. For a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home, the stories become all too real in this spine-tingling film”.

My Thoughts

The movie starts on Halloween night with a group of teen. They end up at the town’s haunted house where they steal a book that once belong to a girl named Sarah. Sarah lived there many years ago and it is rumored throughout that town that Sarah went murdered the other children that once lived at the home. Once the teens take the book home with them the stories that are written in the book begin to come true and horrible things starts to happen.

The movie was good to me, but it takes a lot to scare me. My daughter says the books are scarier. I definitely think there has to be a part two because there are three books and based on remembering what she use to tell me about the books I would love to see more. Honestly the stories are so short I promised I would read them. I do recommend this movie to anyone that loves a spooky tale.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is available now on digital and will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 5th.  For fun, try this make-up tutorial below.
