Our skin is the first thing people see when they look at us. It is import to keep it healthy and beautiful.
My skin has always given me problems since I was younger. As I have gotten older, I have figured out what things are causing my skin irritation.
The biggest irritate for me were facial cleansers containing salicylic acid, mica, and talc. If you are familiar with any of these products you know that they are used in almost every cosmetic line in on the market. What you may not know is that these ingredients could be the reasons behind many of your skin issues.
Salicylic Acid
This medication is used on the skin to treat common skin and foot (plantar) warts.Salicylic acid helps cause the wart to gradually peel off. This medication is also used to help remove corns and calluses. This product should not be used on the face or on moles, birthmarks, or warts with hair growing from them.
Many products contain small amounts of salicylic acid, specifically Acne Washes. Here are the main ingredients in Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash.

Mica
Mica is a group of silicate minerals that are widely distributed in different types of rock. Mica often occurs as flakes, scraps, or sheets, and has been used by humans since prehistoric times. Because Mica comes from the earth it may contain trace amounts of heavy metals. The levels of heavy metals in Mica are regulated by the FDA, and the small amounts that may eventually be in cosmetic or personal care products do not pose a risk to human health. – Learn more here. Mica is usually found in eye-shadows and other cosmetics. This was causing me severe breakouts.
Talc
Talc is a naturally occurring mineral, mined from the earth, composed of magnesium, silicon, oxygen, and hydrogen. Chemically, talc is a hydrous magnesium silicate with a chemical formula of Mg3Si4O10(OH)2.
Talc has many uses in cosmetics and other personal care products; in food, such as rice and chewing gum; and in the manufacture of tablets. For example, it may be used to absorb moisture, to prevent caking, to make facial makeup opaque, or to improve the feel of a product. Talc is used in many foundations pressed powders.
HERE IS HOW I HELPED MY SKIN GET HEALTHY
So for years, I suffered from putting products on my skin that was not only causing breakouts but also burning my skin. Unfortunately, I painfully suffered, until one year I the pain was unbearable. I experienced horrible windburn from a terribly cold winter here in Chicago.
I used three ingredients to make my own simple calming DIY skin cleanser. The ingredients are gentle on the skins and easy to find. For my complete process please read my article How to make a simple skin cleanser to calm sensitive skin on SheKnows Experts.

This is such an awesome, easy cleanser! My face suffers from both acne and eczema (a winning combination for sure) so this would probably be great. Thanks for sharing!
