I stepped outside from the warmth of my cave and into the frigid winter air. The wind whipped around my stinging every part of my body. I needed to get food. I hadn’t eaten in days since my plane crashed here. I was going to visit my family but our plane suddenly crashed into a part of Greenland that I never knew existed. Hunger surged through my body as I was on the verge of becoming ravenous. I descended down the mountain and away from my only source of protection. I felt a light snow start to come down. Great. Now I was stuck outside in the snow. Then it was like someone flipped a switch. The snow came crashing down in a full-blown snowstorm. I couldn’t even see my hand if it was arms distance away. I tried to turn around and see if I could find my cave but I couldn’t see it. I found the side of the mountain and made my way back up to the mountain in hopes that I would be able to feel my cave. Speaking of feeling, I felt like I was now in the beginning stages of frostbite. I only had jeans and a t-shirt on. I felt the side of the mountain end and I knew I had found my protection again.
I walked into the cave and heard a deep snoring from inside. Must be someone else who needed shelter from the storm. It was darker than I remembered in there. Actually now that I’m looking into the darkness I see things hanging from the ceiling. I heard a faint dripping. I did have to stoop to get in here. I didn’t have to stoop anywhere in my cave. I had my phone on me so I turned on the flashlight. I aimed it at the ceiling and I saw bodies hanging from what looked like ice daggers. Then I heard a loud snort and slowly I brought my light to right in front of me. What I saw confused me. I could only see white. Then I looked to my left and I could see the cave. I looked to my right and there was the cave again. I looked up and there I saw a face. Not a human face. A face with leathery flesh and fangs coming from it’s mouth dripping with some kind of slimy substance. It was so close I could feel it’s hot and disgusting breath on my skin. I turned off my flashlight and started to slowly back away one step at a time.
I may have been living in a cave but I’m not stupid. I just hoped that I could escape this thing with my life. Share on XSuddenly I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I looked down to see my white exposed rib cage. I immediately fell to the floor and started to gasp for air. Whatever this thing was, it didn’t play around. I crawled with what strength I could muster and tried go out the way I came. With my back to the floor and my front side facing this monster I pushed myself towards the caves entrance. Then I was being lifted off of the ground and that brought a strong burning pain to my chest where I had just been scratched. The creature brought me up to its face and I knew it was the end of me. At least I didn’t need to worry about getting food anymore. If I was going to meet my maker I needed to at least know what it was. “What….are….you..” I grunted. It took in a big gulp of air and screamed “ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN”.
